Stuart Storey whilst commentating

Stuart Storey has one of the most recognisable voices on television sport – over the past 35 years he has brought sport alive in living rooms all over the UK. He is best known for his commentary on athletics, covering 9 Olympic Games (1976 - 2008), 12 Athletics World Championships (1983 - 2007), 10 European Championships (1974 - 2006) and 7 Commonwealth Games (1978 - 2006).

His career has predominantly been at BBC Sport where he also commentated for television on variety of sports including: basketball; beach volleyball; netball; judo; squash; modern pentathlon; swimming; triathlon; table tennis; speed skating; curling; ice hockey; skiing and biathlon, in the main covering major Championships and Olympic Games.

Stuart was the venue announcer for the World Short Course swimming Championships in Manchester in 2008.

Stuart has also worked for IMG Media commentating on the Athletics Golden League events and was in Beijing as part of the BBC Television athletics commentary team.

His distinctive voice has secured him voice over contracts for a diverse group of clients – Bounty Kitchen Towels TV advertising; John West Foods TV advertising; World Cup Rugby Advertising; Sony Olympic PlayStation Games – Sydney 2000 & Athens 2004; Will Young Video and Trojan Games Internet Advertising.

Stuart is also a well established MC for Business presentation and facilitation courses and is an accomplished and entertaining MC for corporate hospitality and social functions.

Stuart is working with JCCM to MC events with its clients, in particular Daley Thompson, whom he commentated on throughout his career, and has stories that give a real insight into his personality and what made him the successful athlete he was.

Stuart, himself an Olympian and former British 110m hurdler, now dedicates a lot of time to charities working in sport. He is a Patron of SPARKS, and a trustee of the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund and is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Wodson Park Trust in Ware, Hertfordshire where his drive has helped to establish a large sports complex for the benefit of the local community.
